Sooooooo.....I'm finally coming down from the excitement from the glitz, glam and fab of my 39th birthday celebration on Dec. 3 and I must say it was probably one of my best birthday celebrations! So NYC was fab, our activities (planned and not) were amazing and everyone was on their best behaviors (not really but we will roll with that). I launched my website and blog, we enjoyed it, you enjoyed it....it was ALL GOOD!
What you didn't see and many didn't know was the WHY........why I celebrate my life to the fullest is quite simple; it's a time for me to reset the start button and try to be the best Kyna that I can be. While many make New Year's Resolutions, I make New Age Resolutions. Each year, 21-40 days (depending on what I feel I can handle) leading up to my birthday, I fast. I give up certain foods, activities and even people. I increase my time with God, His Word and prayer and meditation. It's funny how each fast brings something different and new to me. Each time brings a renewed spirit and clearer direction and it truly shows me how amazing and multidimensional God is! I must admit, I actually thought I failed at my fast this year because I wasn't walking around with a heavy heart and constantly in tears (my reality for 40 days last year). I refrained from my daily vices and I did just "okkkaaayyyy" with my scripture intake. But it was the end of the fast and I didn't feel like I had the direction that I so desired. However, a couple of days before the fast ended, HE spoke to me through a "seemingly random" conversation with my father. And at that very moment, I realized my directive from my fast and more importantly, God......JUST LIVE! Stop being afraid of failing in business, love, relationships, etc and JUST LIVE! A very simple message. Easy to comprehend and really easy to just do! I experienced many blessings this past year but I lived with these self-imposed restrictions. I was holding myself back. And now with the confirmation from my HEAVENLY FATHER and a quite hilarious conversation with my EARTHLY Father, I know what I need to do! I am excited about my future and enlarged territory!
So yeah, I celebrate big but knowing this, wouldn't you do the same?!?!
