Maybe I am the typical African American and I am almost certain that I am the typical woman because I LOVE February, after all it is Black History Month and the month of.......................... L-O-V-E! As I struggled over what my long overdue blog post would be, I figured this was the ideal time to reveal my "Love is......." series. "Love is......" simply put is about love! The love between a man and woman, the love shared with your family and even your love for life. This series is near and dear to me because I am a hopeless romantic. Yep, I will admit that I am the girl who believes in giving second chances (but trust me, only the real lucky ones get a third chance). And through the heartaches that I have experienced and have unfortunately caused others, I still believe in this fairytale LOVE! I recall dating a guy who was ready to "bless" me with that coveted pave yellow canary diamond, but something was missing. After discussing it with my close friend, he asked me, "Does he make your heart skip a beat?".......WOW! That was so eye-opening for me! So maybe I am naive, still at 39, but I do believe that there is a love for me that will do just that! Anyway, I digress, this is certainly not about my love life....LOL! Oh! So back to what I was saying. This is also special to me because for years, I have collected love stories of real people who I know....yes, some of you recall me asking you over and over about your love story and me jokingly saying that I want to write a collection of love stories. Well, girls, I was so serious! So I guess in some strange type of way, this has come full circle for me and "Love is...." is just that platform. Finally, as many of you all know I am a wedding planner extraordinaire. I am the owner of Elite Bridal Consulting & Events, LLC with my fab partner Camille Ferguson and for the past 13 years, we have been blessed to produce some of the most lavishly styled and classy weddings. However, besides the glitz and the glam, I just adore my couples and the LOVE that they share. To witness their admiration for each and their connection grow even during the planning process is a beautiful thing! Most of my couples are younger than me but I seem to always learn something new about LOVE and even about myself in the process........
Well, I wanted to kick off "Love is...." with a little eye candy from one of my fave couples, Mr. & Mrs. David and Kiarra Logan. Now, I'm warning you, this wedding is certainly swoon worthy! I worked with Kiarra for two years while she was overseas (I think somewhere fab like Italy) with David. Through our many conversations, I was able to design the perfect ceremony and reception that was a true reflection of their love for each other. Kiarra is not the traditional type so she would never let me share their "How we met" story but it's safe for me to share that they have a genuine and unbreakable LOVE for each other.
